Cigna has officially announced that they will be exiting the ACA Marketplace at the end of 2026, which means they will no longer offer Marketplace plans starting in 2027. This decision affects 369,000 members across 11 states, and every one of those members will need to choose a new plan during the next Open Enrollment Period.

Cigna explained that ACA enrollment has dropped significantly and that the Marketplace has become less profitable for them. They plan to shift their focus toward employer-sponsored plans and other health services where they see more stability and growth.

For current Cigna ACA members, nothing changes for the rest of 2026. Your benefits, network, and coverage remain the same until December 31, 2026. However, it’s extremely important to choose a new plan during Open Enrollment so you don’t lose coverage on January 1, 2027.

This type of exit is becoming more common as insurance companies adjust to market conditions. The good news is that there are still many strong carriers offering ACA plans, and members will have options. The key is to review your choices early, compare benefits and networks, and make sure you select a plan that fits your needs.

If you’re currently with Cigna, don’t wait until the last minute. Start reviewing your options as soon as Open Enrollment begins to ensure a smooth transition.
